3 Types of Parrot That Are Ideal to Train

Posted by: admin In: Pet Care

You will be happy if you choose a parrot as a pet. Teach them to sing, beat box, or any sort of sound. These birds can live from 60 to 100 years. So, you can be friends with them for the rest of your life. The parrots we have selected here are the easiest to train. Get our parrot training newsletter for more info.

African Grey

These parrots are medium sized and are usually of a greyish colour. Not always are they grey all over, you will see red on some also. For speaking you can't get better than this type of parrot. They can speak a variety of words and can imitate any sound with equal dexterity. Unfortunately not all Grey's will speak. Sometimes a Grey will never talk or show any signs of talking. Give them lots of attention to make friends or they will be likely to scream alot. Once bonded, the bird will be loyal and will love you more than you can think possible.

Conure

These parrots are small sized and have very big tails attached to their bodies. They come is many different hues and are clever. They are amazing beasts who take joy in having fun. They are good for learning cool tricks and remembering them. Getting these parrots to speak is possible if you train them. The down side of having a prrot like this is that you need to spend a large amount of time with them, its best for people who stay home a lot.

This is because they need to be trained every day, for several hours, to stop them biting and be sociable. You need to train these birds early in order to stop them screeching a lot.

Macaw

These parrots have been known to survive for about more than fifty years and knowing this you should be ready for a long relation with your bird. This is one of the largest parrots you will see. Get a high and wide cage so your parrot is comfy. Again, this parrot will need time outside of its cage to be happy.

This parrots has a strong beak and bites everytihng. Give them lots of toys so they they dont attack your furniture and ruin it. Get a good amount of toys for this parrot to ensure it is happy.

Remember parrot training is important, never neglect your parrot or you could end up with parrot behaviour problems.

  • Nathaniel: It is important to protect your pet against fleas and ticks. One way to do this is to apply
  • cat brush: The tools on the market today such as the furminator make it so easy to groom your cat. I no longer go to professional groomers.
  • Jodi Adams: I agree, it's always good to research and understand the pets needs before getting one. They are also great companionship for seniors. Cheers Jod
